A little about me…
My name is Michelle Lawson and I am excited to be a leader for Uganda this summer! I have asked the Lord to send me to Africa for as long as I can remember and finally the day is here! I went on an ambassador trip with AIM when I was 15 to work in inner city Philadelphia. I fell in love with the people and the city and continued to go back for 6 summers. I have also lead trips to Mexico and Romania with AIM.
In 2004, after Aaron and I were married (I’m thankful for that!) we went to Mexico and lived for about 2 1/2 years. God opened doors for us to pastor a church there in a small ranch. More recently we have been living in Raleigh, NC working and taking time to re-focus and see what the Lord has next for us. In the past I have been persuaded that missions was about “going” somewhere. We both believe the Lord has called us to full-time Missions, though we have had to realize that mission’s can be and should be done where ever you are. I believe as we are learning that and being willing to live it no matter what country we find ourselves in, God will use us for His glory. Africa has been a desire of my heart and I feel quite blessed that it is coming to past and we get to experience it with each of you!!!
I learned about God when I was pretty small. Growing up in a house with a mother who loved the Lord and a father who wasn’t ready to surrender. I never really had a lightning bolt moment. I just knew I loved Jesus and He loved me. When I was about 13 I got involved in a youth group and that is where discipleship began to change me. Our youth pastors let us lead which in turn caused us to grow. When I was around 15 I went to Phoenix, AZ to stay in a women’s shelter for 2 weeks. A friend of the family had a connection there and set it up. I had never flown before or gone anywhere alone, really had not been out of my little world. Needless to say it rocked my world and changed my life. I thought I was going to help these “poor homeless people” but I don’t think I really did anything for them. My life however was NEVER the same. From that trip on I knew I wanted to give my life to serve the Lord and others. I already shared about my trips with AIM. I also lived in India for about 4 months as a missionary and have traveled around MOST of Mexico and down to Guatemala and Honduras. I love people and my desire is to see the lost found. The Lord has given me so much and my heart is that all people hear His name and know His love.
In a nut shell, a very small one…. that is me.
Yayyy!!! i’m sooo excited to get to know you even more!!!! I am jumping for joy daily for this trip. I can’t wait to see the radical changes God’s going to make in all of our lives and the lives of those around us. yayyyyyy!!!!!!!
