How I was called to the mission’s field/testimony!
Don’t stop reading , this will be kinda long!
Im gonna tell you about my life, and how God led me to go on this mission’s trip.
Let’s start with a little background info: My father is a pastor, so I grew up in a wonderful Christian home. I was born in the Philippines, as was my sister, because my parents were missionaries there. I lived there for a little under a year, and then my family moved to Wisconsin (where my mom grew up) and we lived there for a year. My parents would have liked to continue being missionaries, but they couldn’t raise enough money anymore to stay overseas. So my dad starting looking for a job as a pastor (my parents had gone to Bible college together). A church in Bloomfield, New Jersey accepted him so my family and I moved there when I was two.
So my dad became the associate pastor at that church for 8 years. Everyone in that church became my family, and I grew up there, it was all I knew. But the church started to become low on money so they had to let my dad go. He started looking for a senior pastor position, because preaching is his passion, and being associate pastor limited him to only doing outreach ministry. I loved that church so much, well I still do, and when we had to leave I was extremely sad. I wasn’t willing to accept another church for a long time, but God opened my eyes and made me see that my dad really needed me to support him. So, he is the senior pastor at my current church, Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Teaneck, NJ. At first, it was really hard for him. Many people were not open to his ideas and a big number of people left and went to other churches. The church is very small, but God is really working in it and new people are continually coming.
My mom homeschooled me for kindergarten and first grade, and then I went to public school in 2nd grade and up. I was always picked on because I was different and didn’t really fit in. In fourth, fifth, and sixth grade I started making a lot of friends. I had a group of best friends and we had a lot of fun together, and everyone liked me. I didn’t really follow God though because I just wanted to impress everyone.
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve had a huge heart for people. I am extremely sensitive (which is not always a good thing), and so seeing hurting people really pains me. I have always wanted to go to Africa to help those people, but I never thought I would actually do it.
So when I got back from Georgia, I really wanted to grab life by the horns and do something incredible and unforgettable. So I thought, why not go to Africa? Who randomly thinks something like that? Well, me. I have always wanted to go on a mission’s trip, especially to Africa. I just have a passion for those people, to just hug them and tell them that everything will be okay, Jesus loves you.
Sooooo, I am bouncing with excitement and I cannot wait to go to Uganda! It will definately be amazing and I’m so gad I have the opportunity to go! And I’m also excited that I’m going with all of you, because you all seem like amazing people, and meeting you is gonna be great! 🙂
Much much much much Love, Jules <3
